Are you scared of walking into the gym? Lost all motivation to get fit? Do you feel uncomfortable in your gym attire? I feel better when I make an effort to being heathier and going to the gym and being active helps get me there. Here are my 5 tips that help me get to the gym.
Buys a new item. When you buy things for hobbies it rejuvenates your passion. The worse case scenario it will make you feel guilty if you don’t use the new item and it will scream at you and put you in guilty coma every time you see it. So put your money where your mouth is and put some effort into your new gym gear. If you can’t afford LuLu Lemon or Gym Shark go to your local Walmart and get a new stylish bra for $7 bucks.
Take a min to brush your hair and wash your face. No need to get all dolled up but when you feel and look your best you will feel more comfortable getting out of your comfort zone. This tips always works for me, the confidence that comes with just getting cleaned up a bit can boost your energy levels to conquer any workout.
Make a plan and give your self a pat on the back for trying to stick with it. Give yourself realistic expectations and some times just showing up is an achievement. So don’t believe that your going to loose 10 lbs in a short amount of time, set yourself little milestones that will get you to that end goal of 10 lbs. And celebrate the little milestones and all the little achievements and changes you see. I like to plan out my week, how many times I will go to the gym, how many walks I will do and which days I will do my own yoga session at home. This plan, along with a good healthy meal prep will get you to your end goal and help you achieve a healthier life in no time. Don’t ever forget to be happy with the journey and enjoy the little things, they will distract you until you reach your big goal.
Refrain from judging yourself to others. The grass is never greener and an apple can never be an orange but both are sweet and both are delicious. And don’t you dare caught up about the numbers, its NOT about the number in scale or the number on the tag in your jeans. The main focuses needs to be how you feel, I always quote Dr. Laura she says “you will be better then some and not as good as others.” Enjoy you life and the little things.
Get a new playlist of songs that will pump you up, if your like me I get lost in music. I can be on the stair stepper and suddenly 15 min goes by because a few good songs came on. I get lost in my dance music vibes. In college I did a paper on how music effects your mood and one section of this paper had actual studies from top Universities that said working out to music you love will actually improve your work out. You will work harder and longer because the music is chemically pumping your brain of good pheromones giving you a little mini shot of energy. So don’t ever be afraid to spend some cash on that iTunes account or spend hours finding or creating the perfect playlist. Music feeds the soul and will help improve your mood as well as you gym sesh.
